Neil Sedaka

Wednesday, January 9, 2008

A friend and I attended a Neil Sedaka concert this past Sunday night. Man, I had forgotten how many hits he either wrote and/or performed himself. Two of my fav Connie Francis tunes [Stupid Cupid and Where the Boys Are] were penned by Sedaka. Naturally, my all time fav is "Oh, Carol".

He began as a classic pianist but by ~ age 16 was colloborating on hit songs. His catalog of music would be a good American Idol show given the varierty and range.

I enjoyed the concert but I felt the years creeping upon me, and given how gingerly Neil moved about the stage, he's feeling a bit on the older side himself. But he still has a great smile.

Here's the link to his official site for tour schedule and bio:

Neil Sedaka is HUGELY popular in New England. Although no one seems to be able to explain why "Sweet Caroline" is played, with great audience participation, at every Red Sox game.

Hey, I can "Wo-wo-wo" with the best of them.

Toni, I bet you can sing along with Neil. And funny, my friend and I were talking about wanting to see a Neil Diamond concert. I was big fan in my early 20's and attended 3 performances. But it has been years, and I would love to sing "Sweet Caroline" again.

Lucky you, Carol! My favorites are "Calendar Girl" and "Happy Birthday, Sweet Sixteen", although I like them all. Somewhere, amidst the wreckage of my office, is his greatest hits album/CD.
